Providing secure waterproofing for Kairos Community Trust Recovery Hub

Bauder’s latest project with CRASH, the UK construction charity, was officially opened last week. This recovery hub in South London, known as ‘66’, will provide men and women suffering from homelessness and addiction with newly refurbished bedrooms and extended day therapy facilities.

Kairos Community Trust is dedicated to helping homeless people with drug and alcohol problems through abstinence-support hostels, rehabilitation programmes and supported Move-on houses. The Trust purchased 66 Nunhead Lane in 2017 after having rented the property for 19 years. During this time, one of the residents transformed the overgrown garden into an oasis giving the 12-step ‘dayhab’ programme its name: the Garden Day Programme.

The planned works to the existing property was to build a two-storey extension and reconfigure the ground floor space to better suit the needs of the clients. The support provided by CRASH and their Patron Companies saved Kairos a huge £52,819 off the final project cost, Bauder was delighted to provide a technical specification and free of charge materials for the single ply flat roof to deliver secure, lightweight waterproofing with a robust guarantee. The renovations have provided the programme with well-equipped, comfortable group and individual therapy rooms, kitchen and bathrooms, and six bedrooms upstairs for residents.

‘We thank our patrons and friends for their magnificent support. CRASH charity, Homeless Link, the national Lottery Community Fund and the Maudsley Charity have together enabled us to create a vibrant modern recovery hub fit for another 30 years’ Mossie Lyons, Kairos Director.

As a patron of CRASH, Bauder supports their work through the donation of materials and provision of expertise such as technical specifications and project management.
