FUNdraising for a UK-wide foodbank

Last month at Bauder, our philosophy focus was ‘fun and enjoyment’. Fun and enjoyment create a much-needed work balance, by taking off some of the stress to have a laugh with those around you, enhancing the quality of your mood. Bauder took this as an opportunity to bring some fun and enjoyment to our colleagues whilst raising money for a worthy cause.

Our initiative involved raising money for FareShare, the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors. Given the current climate, we thought this foodbank charity was a suitable choice. FareShare believe that no good food should go to waste, therefore they take good quality surplus food from across the food industry and get it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups including homeless shelters, school breakfast clubs and community cafes. Each week, FareShare provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people. This also has a positive impact on the climate by redistributing goods that would otherwise go to waste, saving the economy £51 million every year.

So… we encouraged the team to undertake some ‘fun’ challenges and activities which would make their colleagues laugh. However, in order for those people to undertake the activities, we had to reach certain donation levels for different tasks. Once that target amount was reached, a photo or video of our colleague’s task was released. These challenges involved various events across the team, including:

🎅 Two of our Area Technical Managers (ATM) completed a park run, one dressed as Santa and one in lederhosen
🥧 We watched one of our ATMs get pied
🎄 A technician dressed up as a Christmas tree with 85 baubles attached
👨 The marketing team wore moustaches for a day
🚴‍♂️ An ATM attended a client meeting dressed in Bauder cycling gear
👚 A clothes swap, where Simon dressed as Caroline and Caroline dressed as Simon
🧔🏻 One of our regional managers shaved his beard off
👨‍🦰 A member of the sales team dyed their hair half orange and half black
🧽 The office threw sponges at a member of Senior Management Team whilst she was put in the stocks
This initiative incentivised our team to donate for this worthy cause, whilst having a giggle and some fun with their colleagues. From individual contributions and a company donation, in total we raised £2500 for FareShare, which will help contribute to the charity turning surplus food into meals for vulnerable communities across the UK during the cost-of-living crisis.
