The specification

The client wanted the building roof to be high performing and incorporate energy efficient measures that would reflect their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. These requirements were met by the Bauder Total Green Roof System with intensive landscaping, which provides high quality, durability and environmental credentials as stated in BBA certificate 06/4350. This system is equally suited to either new build or refurbishment projects, and offers a choice of products that allow it to be tailored to the specific needs of the roofing area.

The result

Bauder was able to deliver to Bord Gais Networks is a single point of contact roofing solution that met their exact specifications under one all-encompassing guarantee, helping ensure that there were no delays to the planned opening of the innovative new building.

Systems installed

Bauder Total Green Roof System (BTGRS)

1 BauderPLANT E 42

A  torch-applied, SBS elastomeric bitumen capping sheet. The product features chemically treated bitumen to deliver superior root resistance which has been tested and approved by the FLL. The membrane is reinforced with 250g/m² spunbond polyester fleece to allow the finished product to cope with structural movement without fracture.

2 BauderTEC KSA DUO 35

A technically advanced self-adhesive SBS elastomeric bitumen underlayer with “DUO” lap technology to ensure thorough sealing of lap joints, even in lower temperatures.

3 BauderPIR FA-TE

An efficient PIR insulation board with aluminium foil facing on both sides. The top facing features a printed grid pattern to aid site cutting. It is lightweight and has zero ozone depletion potential.

A self-adhesive SBS elastomeric bitumen air & vapour control layer, with a mica finish.

Intensive landscaping

This FLL/GRO compliant substrate provides a free draining, growing medium for green roof systems. It is a lightweight substrate designed for most vegetation and provides aeration qualities with some inherent water retention.

2 BauderGREEN FV 125 100

Designed to separate and contain Bauder substrates from the drainage element of the green roof system. It prevents fine material from being washed out of the substrate layer.

3 BauderGREEN DSE 60

Laid on to the completed waterproofing, to provide continuous drainage within hard and soft landscaping. It is primarily used where the load is moderate to high, such as intensive green roofs. Its compressive strength makes it suitable beneath paving laid on sand/cement or gravel bedding or within planter beds.

4 BauderGREEN FSM 600

Placed onto completed waterproofing to protect the waterproofing from mechanical damage.

5 BauderGREEN PE 02

Separation and slip layer, fitted directly onto the completed waterproofing to split the landscaping from the waterproofing.
