Bauder supports CITB’s Open Doors 2025 with training event in Scotland

Social Value

Earlier this month, Bauder supported the CITB's National Construction College, Inchinnan campus’ Open Doors week, with the aim of getting the next generation into the construction industry.

The event was organised by Allan Dorris of Briggs Amasco, one of Bauder's approved contractors, who arranged with nearby youth training support organisations (Tigers Group, and Developing the Young Workforce) and West College Scotland for 60 young people to attend.

A series of practical demonstrations gave the group of 16-18-year-olds an opportunity to gain hands-on experience under careful supervision. Francis Murray, site technician for Bauder, hosted sessions on applying reinforced bitumen membranes (RBM).

After the training, there were speed recruitment workshops, which resulted in a number of attendees now being lined up for interviews with contractors in the coming weeks.

The engagement from all the young people taking part took this event to a level that I didn’t expect. I hope they saw the benefits of entering the roofing sector for a career and appreciated the skills involved with installing robust waterproofing systems. I look forward to continuing the training with them if they decide to enter the roofing industry with one of our approved contractors.
