How we deliver our projects to meet your expectations
At Bauder, we pride ourselves on being much more that just a manufacturer and supplier; we look to utilise our expert workforce to assist you throughout your project from inception to completion, and beyond.
A successful project requires teamwork, and our people give a unified approach to delivering a flat roof project.
We maintain high standards throughout the business by offering a high level of commitment to our employees ensuring they are valued, supported, rewarded, empowered to be accountable and take full ownership for their areas of responsibility.
Technical manager advise
Our technical managers play a vital role in the success of every project. Your dedicated technical manager will work closely with you to develop the most appropriate, budget aware and practical solution for your project.
They will work alongside our highly experienced technical department to provide a bespoke specification package tailor made to your individual project. The technical manager will remain involved with your project from initial design through to completion of roofing works on site, providing you with a dedicated single point of contact.
Recommending the right solution
Once we comprehend the scope of the brief, we match without bias, the criteria against our wide-ranging portfolio of flat roof waterproofing systems. These include reinforced bitumen membrane, single ply, hot melt, cold applied liquid, and the correct insulation for a warm or inverted roof construction. Additionally, we can also work with you on the design of a green roof, blue roof and solar PV or a combination of these. This means we can recommend the right solution for every project, whether new build or refurbishment.
Our technical managers understand all the waterproofing types in our portfolio of systems which ensures they don’t have to impose a particular solution on a building.
Specification support services
Flat roofs can be perceived as simplistic in both their visual appearance and design, however there is a precision to the detailing that must be adhered to so that the solution remains watertight, endures and resists the elements, and stands the test of time.
Our technical specification department has been designing details for all our waterproofing systems and facility enhancement solutions with their own individual characteristics and technical requirements and are highly proficient at interpreting multifaceted designs or overcoming the complexity of a challenging roof.
Our technical department can provide specialist calculations and designs that meet Building Regulations and standards for your project and each roof area.
- U-value and thermal bridging for insulated roofs factoring in thickness of insulation, imposed weight loading, compressive strength, required fire resistance, satisfy acoustic performance (where required), and incorporate insulated accessories for penetrations and perimeters.
- Air leakage through minimising air permeability and the correct detailing and sealing of membranes.
- Acoustic performance using BauderROCK insulation or a hybrid arrangement with the inclusion of PIR insulation to reduce height and weight of the completed roof.
- Wind load design to ensure the roof solution is appropriately secured to the building and able to withstand the anticipated levels of uplift to remain in place.
- Drainage calculations for the building so that water will drain effectively to clear the roof’s surface either via internal rainwater outlets and downpipes or via external guttering systems or hoppers.
- Waterproofing of safe access systems to accommodate the desired edge protection, mansafe system, and non-fragile rooflights.
Refurbishment roof evaluation service
We understand that surveying a flat roof to determine its condition can often be challenging, especially when you cannot detect the extent of the issues present through a visual assessment. We can help you by performing technical roof diagnostics that pinpoint the exact location and levels of moisture within a failing roof and provide you with all the information and support you need to deliver your flat roof assessment and refurbishment solution.
Core sample survey
Carrying out core sampling provides information on the material construction of the roof waterproofing, insulation incorporated and deck type whilst also providing evidence where water saturation may be located. Core samples are taken at random locations on the roof so that a balanced view of the roof condition is gained. Key locations for water to collect, enter the current waterproofing system and create challenges for the building owner are obviously the low points on a roof and failing details such as abutments, parapets or rooflights etc.
Photographic records of each core sample are taken and used within the finished report for visual evidence and clarification of the located challenges.
Moisture mapping
Technical roof diagnostics support and enhance our flat roof review survey by verifying the exact levels and locations of moisture within existing waterproofing systems.
The readings from the testing method give objective information about the true condition of a roof, eliminating conflicting opinions and advice so that sound decisions can be made on the roofing options without conjecture.
Moisture mapping is suited for all roof structures, particularly those with multiple layers of insulation and previous waterproofing systems. The gauge will also detect moisture within certain decks or supporting structure in uninsulated roof situations.
Our diagnostic report plots precisely the roof’s condition confirming the suitability of the existing build up to receive a waterproofing membrane overlay and identifying areas that need the insulation to be replaced beforehand.
Installation expertise through our approved roofing contractors
Design and the quality of the roofing materials contribute greatly to the performance and longevity of a flat roof, as well as the quality and experience of the installer. You can be assured that the waterproofing, PV, green roof and blue roof will be of the highest standard as we only allow Bauder approved contractors to install our roofing solutions.
Approved Contractors
Our national network of approved contractors are all given full evaluation, as they must possess the technical expertise required and organisational facilities to maintain an efficient and well-run site.
We provide all the training, support and expert advice they need in order to deliver a high quality roof installation that we are proud to put our name to.
We look to build strong relationships with all our approved contractors, as we recognise just how essential the quality and experience of the installing operative is to ensure a successful project.
Certified installers
Excellent workmanship is crucial to the guarantee that accompanies Bauder installations and so we have always operated a policy to train and approve the individual installer, and not simply the contracting roofing company.
Each individual installer is required to display their approved operative badge at all times showing photographic identification, name, badged operative number and the systems that they are trained to install.
On site monitoring and quality assurance
Once your roofing works commence, our experienced team of site technicians will monitor and inspect the workmanship at key stages to ensure that the standards required to meet our guarantee are fulfilled, as well as providing you with easy to understand reports on how the works are progressing.
Our national team is the largest of all the manufacturer-suppliers, ensuring all our sites receive the attention they deserve.
Guaranteed quality
Your new completed roof will be backed up by what we can confidently claim to be the most comprehensive guarantee ranges in today’s roofing industry, giving you total reassurance with regards to the future performance of your roof.
Unlike others in the market, Bauder offers a range of guarantees that match the building’s and your requirements to give complete satisfaction. We issue our guarantees as part of our service because we monitor quality every step of the way from manufacture to installation.
A credible guarantee is vital; but never needing to call upon it is our aim.
