Royal Mail - Aberdeen
The Royal Mail Distribution Hub in Altens underwent a full roof refurbishment, including deck replacement and a high‑performance Bauder Total Roof System (BTRS) overlay system, delivered with careful planning to maintain uninterrupted operations during peak periods.
Synopsis
Bauder delivered a major roofing refurbishment at the Royal Mail Distribution Hub in Altens, where maintaining full operational continuity was critical, particularly during the peak Christmas period. A comprehensive condition survey, including core sampling, confirmed that the existing roof system had reached the end of its serviceable life and required renewal.
The refurbishment began with the careful stripping of all existing roof coverings and the original deck. Once exposed, the underlying timber structure was inspected in full, with any defective, rotten, or damaged sections repaired or replaced to ensure a sound substrate. A new exterior grade plywood deck was then installed to provide a robust base for the upgraded waterproofing system.
Bauder specified a BTRS overlay solution using KSA Duo underlay and K5K cap sheet, chosen for its proven performance and compatibility with the existing system. The installation provided a fully watertight, durable waterproofing finish. Close coordination of deliveries and site activities ensured minimal impact on the client’s logistics during their busiest period of the year.
The completed project delivers a high performing, long lasting roofing solution, supported by a comprehensive 20 year Product and Workmanship Guarantee.
