Jack Hunt Academy
Works at Jack Hunt Academy involved a full strip and replacement with a Bauder BTRS warm roof system featuring tapered insulation to enhance drainage, thermal performance, and long term waterproofing.
Synopsis
Jack Hunt Academy in Netherton, Peterborough, is a large co educational secondary school and sixth form undergoing a comprehensive roofing upgrade to improve the long term performance of its buildings. As part of this wider programme, approximately 3,500m² of roof area was refurbished to support the full renewal of the roofing across the site.
The works involved completely stripping the existing waterproofing build up back and preparing the roof for the new warm roof system based on Bauder’s BTRS reinforced bitumen membrane specification with tapered insulation. The tapered design was developed to improve drainage efficiency across the varied roof planes while enhancing overall thermal performance.
A two layer, self adhered Bauderflex warm roof construction formed the new waterproofing solution. This system was selected for its robust performance, suitability for installation without hot works, and proven long term durability within educational environments. The self adhered approach also helped reduce disruption to teaching spaces during term time.
The completed works provide the academy with a modern, reliable roofing system that supports the continued improvement of the wider school site.
