Social Values
Bauder training gives access to new career opportunities

Bauder have partnered with L&Q, Durkan and The Skills Centre in London to provide training to encourage more people into the construction industry.

The two-day workshop at the end of last year offered participants the chance to learn essential roofing skills, demonstrating our commitment to social values.

Focussing on practical experience supported by classroom theory, the bootcamps are designed to provide entry routes into construction as well as upskilling opportunities. Bauder shared knowledge on insulated roofing, as well as providing hands-on experience of constructing a flat roof build-up using Bauder materials.

With participants learning from skilled roofing professionals, the workshops opened up new career opportunities.

Bringing together expertise

Housebuilder and housing association L&Q, which Bauder supplies through their Major Works Investment Programme (MWIP), supported the workshop, and encouraged its own residents from across London to take part.

Three of those who participated have already been offered permanent employment with Bauder’s approved contractor, London Felt Roofing – who are part of Durkan’s supply chain, with Durkan in turn being part of L&Q’s MWIP.

Mark Newstead, Director of Major Programmes at L&Q, said: “We’re excited about the positive impact this partnership with Bauder will have on our Major Works projects, and the opportunities it will bring to us and the communities we serve. We look forward to exploring more ways they can support our values. Their dedication to improving homes will help ensure we deliver better living environments for our residents.”

It was a thoroughly rewarding two days for all involved and the novices were great.

We will be planning further workshops, if you are interested in taking part, please contact us.
