Becoming Carbon Literate
SustainabilityAt Bauder, our dedication to sustainability is ever-growing and is becoming a fundamental aspect of everything we do. As part of our continuous efforts to reduce our environmental impact, the management team recently completed Carbon Literacy Training to understand how to achieve a zero-carbon future.
Carbon literacy means clearly understanding carbon emissions, their impact on the environment, and how to reduce them. The informative training programme encourages thought on individual carbon output and how it can be reduced. An assessment is carried out on completion of the training; this asks the participant to put forward a pledge to reduce personal carbon emissions by a certain amount.
Pledges included:
- Opting into Hybrid working to reduce the carbon impact of commuting when living over 15 miles from the office
- Reducing the consumption of meat, for example, for those who organise company events rather than opting for a vegetarian meal, instead opting in to have the meat meal
- Reducing sending files as email attachments
Following the success of CLO accreditation among the management team, Tom Raftery, sustainability manager at Bauder, continues to promote carbon literacy training throughout the organisation to align with the values of achieving a sustainable future.
