Our cold liquid applied systems are based on the most advanced PMMA technology. They are simple to install, fast curing and long lasting; making them suitable for use in all kinds of flat roof, balcony, walkway, and terrace waterproofing and surfacing applications.  All our cold liquid applied systems meet current UK Building Regulations Part B for External Fire Protection.

A cold liquid coating cures to form a rubber-like elastomeric waterproof membrane. It’s capable of stretching and returning to its original shape without damage and proves a cost-effective method of making a new or existing roof waterproof. Bauder Cold Liquid Applied Systems are based on the most advanced PMMA technology, which allows exceptionally fast installation curing times compared to other systems available. They are simple to install and long lasting; making them suitable for use in all kinds of flat roof, balcony, walkway, and terrace waterproofing and surfacing applications.

All our cold liquid applied systems meet current UK Building Regulations Part B for External Fire Protection. LiquiTEC holds BBA Certification 14/5152. They are available in three colour finishes: stone grey, blue grey and traffic grey.


Why Cold Liquid Applied systems?

Liquid roofing systems encapsulate the surface they are applied to, preserving whatever is underneath and protecting it from weathering. Life expectancy 25 years Cold Liquid Applied Systems have rapid curing times, even in winter and a life expectancy of up to 25 years if maintained correctly. Other benefits include:

  • Excellent adhesion to all kinds of surfaces.
  • Chemical resistant.
  • High resistance to extreme temperatures.
  • Completely waterproof and no heat or special equipment required.

The installation of liquid roofing does not involve hot works. The coating material used in the liquid roofing process is applied cold, thus negating any fire risk.

Installation and Maintenance

Bauder Approved Contractors are the only people fully trained and certified to install our products, providing the necessary experience that our exceptional guarantee demands.

To keep the roof in prime condition, practical maintenance should be carried out. This includes:

  • Cutting back tree limbs that overhang the roof to give a 1 metre clearance outside the roof edge. This will reduce blockage of drainage ways due to fallen leaves.
  • Removal of any vegetation growth that may have occurred, taking care not to damage the waterproofing.
  • Ensure that any protective metal flashings and termination bars remain securely fixed in place, repair or renew as necessary.
  • Examine all mastic sealant and mortar pointing for signs of degradation, repair or replace as necessary.
  • Where promenade tiles or pavers are in use, ensure that they remain in position, secure and in good condition.

Should the system require cleaning, the following methods may be used:

  • Manually washing down with a solution of warm water and approved detergent.
  • Pressure washing with a cold or warm water pressure wash with approved detergent in solution. The head of the water lance should be kept at least 500mm away from the surface and pressure should be restricted to less than 1500psi.
  • Rinse the surface with clean, cold water.
  • Water temperature should not exceed 50°C Use only mild detergents or degreasants.

Cleaning methods and materials not in accordance with Bauder guidelines may affect any warranty. When manually washing rough surfaces, consideration should be given to using mop heads specially designed for this purpose.


Green Credentials

Cold Liquid Applied roofing systems can be used for green roofs as the system formulation delivers superior root resistance. Manufactured under ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, all cold liquid applied products are solvent, isocyanate and halogen free and have a BRE Green Guide Generic A Rating (A+ to E scale) for PIR insulation.

Which System is Right for my Project?

There are two Cold Liquid Applied systems available to use. Contact Bauder’s friendly team of experts to find out which one is best suited for your project.


LiquiTEC Roof System

Warm roof options involve four layers:

  • BauderTEC KSD DUO a self-adhesive carrier membrane and vapour barrier.
  • Bauder FA-TE insulation a foil-faced highly efficient rigid PIR board for warm roof construction.
  • Another layer of BauderTEC KSD DUO.
  • A final layer of LiquiDEK, a fast curing waterproofing resin with reinforcement.

Cold roof options involve two layers:

  • A concrete or timber deck.
  • LiquiDEK, a fast curing waterproofing resin with reinforcement.

LiquiTEC Balcony, Walkway and Terrace System

This consists of three layers:

  • LiquiBALKON a fast curing resin for use on the main area waterproofing for balconies, walkways and terraces.
  • LiquiPAVE RF a filter component.
  • LiquiFINISH the fast-curing final coat used to seal and bind the quartz wearing course.

Cost savings are made through quick installation times and all system elements are totally cold applied, avoiding the inherent risks associated with hot works. Both LiquiTEC Roof System and LiquiTEC Balcony, Walkway and Terrace System uses an exceptionally fast curing PMMA resin. Products are solvent, isocyanate and halogen free.

1. What substrates can LiquiTEC PMMA systems be applied to?

LiquiTEC PMMA systems can be applied to most substrates found in flat roofing applications including:

  • Reinforced bitumen membranes (RBM)
  • Single Ply
  • Asphalt
  • Liquid applied membranes (LAM)
  • Timber
  • Concrete
  • Brick/Block/Masonry
  • Metal

Some substrates will need to be primed as follows:

  • Mineral surfaced RBM – None
  • Exposed Bitumen – LiquiPRIME 1
  • PVC Single Ply* - None, but clean with PMMA Cleaner
  • FPO Single Ply* - Abrade and may need PMMA Cleaner or Special Primer 610
  • EPDM* – Special Primer 610
  • Asphalt* – LiquiPRIME 1
  • LAM* - None, but clean with PMMA Cleaner
  • Timber – LiquiPRIME 1
  • Concrete – LiquiPRIME 2
  • Porous Concrete – Cryl 287 Primer
  • Brickwork – LiquiPRIME 2

2. What substrates preparation is needed?

Substrates must be clean, dry and free of dust and any other contaminants.
Any algae or moss must be sterilized with a solution of diluted bleach. Proprietary biowash solutions are also available.
Existing roofs must be swept clean and then power washed to remove dirt.
Chippings must be scabbled off before power washing.
Metals must be rust/oxidisation free and be free of paint or other coatings. Abrade surfaces to give a key.
In all cases, make sure the substrate is dry.

3. What is the difference between LiquiDEK, LiquiDETAIL and LiquiBALKON?

These are fundamentally the same but with slightly differing properties.

LiquiDEK is the roofing product and flows to give a flat surface.
LiquiDETAIL is for details, it has better thixotropic properties which means it holds vertical upstand details better.
LiquiBALKON is the reinforced balcony and walkway product. It is tougher and flows well to give a flatter surface than LiquiDEK.


4. Where can I use the unreinforced balcony system?

The unreinforced balcony system can only be used on concrete or asphalt cantilevered balconies i.e. they are stable and not over occupied spaces.

5. How do I repair asphalt cracks and blisters?

Cracks in asphalt must be raked out and cleaned before priming with LiquiPRIME 1 and then filling with LiquiPASTE or LiquiPASTE Mortar.
Blisters must only be removed by cold work techniques, usually with a grinder. Once removed the exposed deck and surrounding asphalt will need to be primed and the hole filled flush with LiquiPASTE Mortar.
For filling larger horizontal or vertical voids 5-30mm deep, LiquiPASTE Mortar can be used. LiquiPASTE Mortar is made from catalysed LiquiPASTE mixed with Bauder Quartz 0.4-1.2mm in a ratio of 1:1.

6. What is LiquiPAVE RF Mortar and what can it be used for?

LiquiPAVE RF Mortar is made from LiquiPAVE RF mixed with Bauder Quartz 0.4-1.2mm as follows:

LiquiPAVE R (1 part)
Catalyst (4% average)
LiquiPAVE F (2.3 parts)
Bauder Quartz (2 parts)

The LiquiPAVE R needs to be catalysed before the LiquiPAVE F is mixed in and then the Bauder Quartz is added and mixed in.
It is capable of filling horizontal voids and deflections of around 3-50mm e.g. low spots in a zero falls concrete deck.

7. Can LiquiTEC systems be used for zero falls applications?

The LiquiDEK roof system can be used for inverted roof applications with zero falls and this is detailed in the BBA Certificate. Note that the definition of zero falls are falls less than 1:80 and that the finished roof surface must not have back falls. For exposed waterproofing applications, the roof should achieve a minimum 1:80 fall.
For exposed balcony systems, the surface must always be to falls as standing water will be a slip hazard, especially if it freezes.

8. I want to use tiles as the wearing surface on a balcony, how do I do that and what tile adhesive can I use?

Tiles can be used as the wearing surface for the reinforced balcony system. To provide a key Bauder Quartz is bonded to the waterproofing layer either in LiquiPAVE RF or LiquiBALKON. The tiles are then bonded to the quartz surfacing. Any appropriate exterior tile adhesive can be used as long as it is not solvent based.

9. What colours are available in the LiquiTEC products?

The LiquiTEC range of products are all provided in various shades of grey.

LiquiDEK, LiquiDETAIL and LiquiFIBRE are all approximately RAL 7031 (Blue Grey).
LiquiBALKON is approximately RAL 7032 (Pebble Grey)
LiquiFINISH is available in RAL 7031 (Blue Grey), RAL 7030 (Stone Grey) or RAL 7043 (Traffic Grey)


10. What is LiquiFINISH used for?

The main use for LiquiFINISH is as a sealer coat to the exposed balcony finishes or maintenance walkways on roofs where it is applied over the quartz.
It can also be used if the colour of a finished roof needs to be changed for aesthetics. LiquiFINISH is available in RAL 7031 (Blue Grey), RAL 7030 (Stone Grey) or RAL 7043 (Traffic Grey). Other colours are available, but they often have long lead times.
