Bauder on Times Best Companies List for 3rd Time

Flat roofing specialists Bauder have once again been recognised for organisational excellence at this year’s ‘Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies To Work For’ annual awards, which took place at an event in London hosted by TV Personality Ben Sheppard and supported by Comic Relief’s Richard Curtis. This is the third time that the company has made it onto the prestigious list and has also maintained its 3-star accreditation status that it was awarded in both 2010 and 2012 for ‘outstanding’ workplace engagement.

Now in its 15th year the awards recognise the best of Britain’s happy, engaged and motivated workforce, and its appearance has become highly anticipated in the business calendar. This year the level of competition was extremely high with over 550 companies with less than 250 employees competing for a place on the coveted ‘100 Best Small Companies To Work For’ list. This represents a staggering 25% increase on the number of entrants from last year.

A wide range of criteria are taken into consideration when determining company ranking, which is based entirely on employee feedback around some key headers that include; leadership, management, wellbeing and personal growth. The Sunday Times surveyed over 30,000 employees to compile the list, which is acknowledged as the most extensive research into employee engagement carried out in the UK.

Family-owned company Bauder, who deliver flat roof, green roof and photovoltaic solutions, possess a workforce of 129 employees located throughout the UK; however they are all frequently brought together to participate in the company’s many employee engagement and teambuilding initiatives such as; engagement workshops, Be Happy Be Healthy initiatives  and most recently the Mitie London Revolution Cycle Challenge.

Angeline Barnes, Bauder’s HR Manager, stated, “The business truly believes it’s success is driven through its people, and as such places great attention to detail to engage with employees and ensure they are challenged, developed within the business and rewarded.  Fit to team therefore is a key characteristic of our recruitment strategy.”

Bauder has recently experienced remarkable growth, tripling in size during the industry’s recession. The average length of employment at Bauder is over six years and current employees gave an 84% positive score to the statement “I love working for this organisation” highlighting the company’s credentials as a great employer. Last year, the firm also donated its expertise, materials and over £9,000 to CRASH - the construction industry’s chosen charity for homeless people.
