Environmental Credentials of Bitumen Membrane Systems

Environmental credentials

Bauder is continually researching new manufacturing methods to minimise the impact of production on the environment. Our proactive role prevents pollution and minimises energy consumption.

We monitor and are fully committed to reducing the emission levels of dust, CO2 and NO2 in our manufacturing production.

Bitumen

This is the primary raw material used in the production of bituminous waterproofing membranes. It is a by-product of oil refining and is essentially the waste material of this petrochemical process and therefore has little additional detrimental effect on the environment. The reinforcement used in our RBM capping sheets is made from recycled polyester. Bauder utilises a shredder to recycle any offcuts of bituminous membranes into production. When roofs are replaced the bituminous layers can be incinerated for heating and electricity production.

Insulation

The Bauder insulation has extremely high thermal efficiency and is CFC and HCFC free. It has zero ODP and a Global Warming potential of just 4.928KgCO2-Eq/Kg. As part of our PIR insulation manufacturing process, offcuts and waste is readily recycled and used in the production of hand cleansers and decking materials.p>
