Two of the prestigious awards at the Flat Roofing Alliance Annual Awards went to Bauder this year. The ‘Best Refurbishment Project’ and the coveted ‘Best in Show’ awards were presented to Bauder for their delivery of the environmentally friendly green roof on the prominent Fort Dunlop building, Birmingham. The sedum roof, a planning consent agreed by Birmingham City Council, was installed by James M Green Roofing Contractors. This lightweight system turned the previously derelict building into an impressive development with a habitat haven for a wide range of wildlife including the black redstart. The judges commented “A spectacular complex upgrading a huge redundant building: aesthetically and environmentally pleasing”. The FRA sets unprecedented standards in all aspects of flat roofing, with a particular focus on built up bituminous based systems. The awards continue to recognise those who have made outstanding contributions within the roofing industry and whose own standards echo those set by the FRA. |
