Simple Intensive System

This type of green roof is normally provided where there is a modest fall on the roof, where the required finish is an easily managed form of vegetation, any hard landscaping is to be subject only to foot traffic and irrigation is to be provided either manually or by a basic irrigation system. Whilst Bauder have a number of products that meet this requirement, our DSE40 drainage/reservoir board is most commonly used.

Full Intensive System
The requirement for this type of system is normally indicated by the larger size of the area to be used for recreation or vehicular traffic. This often calls for a more complex mix of hard and soft landscaping, commonly incorporating taller shrubs, multi-stemmed trees and automated irrigation.

This green roof type will allow for access across defined roadways and can be installed on completely flat decks such as podium areas. The use of our 60mm deep DSE60 drainage/reservoir board allows us to effectively address all of the above criteria and, when used in conjunction with the Bauder Intensive Substrate, allows us to keep the depth of substrate and total weight of the system to a minimum.

Hard Landscaping

This type of construction is used predominantly on courtyard podiums with heavy vehicular access and where keeping the total build-up height of the system, together with providing a completely flat paved surface is important in helping to reduce construction costs.  This can be particularly effective when used to provide a permeable paving system.

Whatever the nature of your green roof requirement, we would always recommend that you seek advice from the Bauder Technical Services department, to ensure that you achieve the optimum solution for your project, both on a performance and cost basis.
