Installing Green Roofs

Bauder works closely with a number of fully trained specialist waterproofing contractors who are willing to take on the entire package from the structural deck through to hard landscaping and vegetation, which can be very beneficial in avoiding split liabilities on fast-track sites. In addition, we have equally well established relationships with landscape contractors, who are used to working in all aspects of the industry, including intensive podium applications with large areas of hard landscaping, including street furniture playground surfaces and equipment and MOT standard roadway applications. By working in this way we are able to offer our customers the flexibility of choice to enable any project to be managed in the most efficient and effective way they consider possible.

As the industry is rapidly evolving in the UK, we place great emphasis on ensuring that all employees of our specialist waterproofing and landscaping contractor customers, from senior management through estimating and site management to the site operatives, are kept fully abreast of new product and industry developments. This is delivered both by formal training sessions and by on-site toolbox talks and presentations, provided by both our technical managers and our seven-strong team of site supervisor/training managers.

It is our experience that, no matter how much care is taken over ensuring the correct specification of the many components involved in a living roof, the initial appearance and longevity of any installation will depend largely upon the quality of the work carried out by the contractor. For this reason we place great importance on ensuring that those contractors involved in the installation of Bauder living roofs are of the highest calibre and share our commitment to quality and service to the client.

All green roofs will require a period of watering after initial installation with quantities depending on the vegetation planted and the climatic conditions.  More info »

Sedum installation

Worth knowing...

It is essential that green roofs are watered during the first month after installation.  To enable this task to be carried out properly, it is necessary for the installing contractor (or main contractor) to supply temporary irrigation equipment on site.

The amount of watering equipment needed will vary with each project and will depend upon the roof area or areas involved.  This document covers the recommended watering of newly installed sedum blanket.  Download »
